Business Challenge: How do we implement both redeployment and outplacement strategies?
When a service unit of a national civil servant organization was privatized and its operations outsourced, 30 jobs were eliminated. The organization sought to redeploy the displaced individuals, and at the same time, begin career transition services for another estimated 7,000 who were soon to retire.
Right Management developed both a short-term and a long-term solution to the organization’s career transition needs. For the displaced employees of the outsourced unit, Right Management offered career consulting and assistance with job search activities, such as resume writing and interview preparation. Meanwhile, to ensure quality services across the country for the retiring officials, Right Management’s consultants developed a deep understanding of the organization’s culture and of civil servants as a whole. This resulted in customized career transition services for the retirees, including outplacement seminars and workshops, career consulting and job search assistance.
Right Management succeeded in redeploying all 30 of the displaced employees within the organization. More than 400 retiring civil servants have participated in outplacement services during the first two years of the program, with 100% having successfully found new jobs outside the organization.
